Dollar Scholars Workshops

The Wharton Women Dollar Scholars Committee is so excited to launch two virtual workshops for high school students located in the West Philadelphia area! There will be one workshop focused on entrepreneurship, and one workshop focused on college preparedness. Both will contain elements of financial literacy. Workshops will take place entirely over Zoom. All students that attend will receive a goodie bag for their participation!

Workshop 1: Entrepreneurship (Wednesday, March 17th from 9:00am-10:30am)
In this workshop, students will hear from guest speaker Kimberly McGlonn, founder and CEO of Grant Blvd, a West Philly-based, sustainable fashion retail business, and who recently received a grant from Beyoncé! In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of entrepreneurship and small business ownership through activities led by Wharton undergraduate students.

Workshop 2: College Preparedness (Wednesday, March 24th from 9:00am-10:30am)
In this workshop, students will hear from Penn students about what college life realistically looks like, especially focusing on the differences between high school and college life. We will discuss techniques for managing a new, heavier workload and other responsibilities, as well as discuss techniques for managing your college budget. Finally, we will lead an activity that will help you practice these skills!
